Totally new on here so I can't post on the forums but Iouldn't help but share a picture of my panther chameleon, Earl. Love him to death.

Will be updating as he gets bigger and develops more colors.

Congrats! I see a lot of promising blues. If you haven't yet, I'd give the care sheets a once or twice over to make sure you provide the utmost importance of care. Hopefully you turn off the red light at night, for example.

I've been using the red light as a heat source and a ubv light, but I turn the heat/red light off at 530pm every night.

Thanks for the advice! I want to take the uttermost care of this guy

They are okay to use as a heat source, correct?
Is that your only basking light? It is better to use just a plain house bulb. Your goal is to create as much of a natural environment as possible. The sun is a bright light and not red. I would suggest changing it.

Have you read through the care sheets? I would read read and reread them and follow them to the letter.

I have read through various care sheets, but online people were saying they worked fine as a day heat source. I figured the light from the uvb would emulate the sun but I see your point. I'll mess around with a few bulbs in the house and see how hot they get!

just ordered a few artificial plants, some Bio Vines, Repti-Vite, and i'm about to order the bulbs, calcium without d3, mistking, and i'm going to my local lowes and home depot to see if they may have any plants. If they don't any suggestions on where i can purchase live plants from? I believe we have a plant nursery that's not too far away from us, so i will probably go and check that out. I'm going for a pothos, i've heard it is easy to keep alive. i had a hibiscus in with my last cham and it died within a week:cautious:(the plant not the cham LOL) i'm so ready for everything to get here so i can get everything ready! It should all be here within about 2 weeks at the latest. Thanks for your help everyone!

It is not optimal as stated above. It is best to mimic a natural environment, including light.

Be careful where online you are looking for advise. There is A LOT of misinformation out there. Honestly, this forum is the only one I have found that has consistently given correct info. We are not perfect but there are several members that have proven themselves to be a good resource. The caresheets here are accurate and written by keepers who have years of experience.

Thanks so much and I've been noticing that! Will definitely utilize this site as much as possible now.

Update: I changed his lights. He is now using a Uvb Heat combo 100 watt and I threw in a 5 watt led on the other side. Hopefully his cage is easier to see and more natural now.

On a side note. I think he hates me. Every time I open the cage he climbs on top or to a corner, and he definitely won't eat out of my hands or even eat while I'm around for that matter haha
