Does anyone know about this species? I recently saw one for sale but could find zero info on this species. Do they get as colorful as the regular panther? The pic they had was a juvenile and was solid light green but the head and body look identical to the pardalis. Thanks David

Just found out some info. I was originaly told this was a chameaeleo cephalolepis instead of the proper name of furcifer cephalolepis. Also called the comoro island dwarf chameleon. That's why i couldn't find any info on it. Thanks anyway. David

Kent, Chris Anderson had one not long ago. Was online for sale on KS for a long while. Lots of interest I think, but since they are so rare I'm guessing no one wanted to risk never having a chance of breeding.

Yep, I remember that one but I thought he meant more recently? I doubt Chris used the wrong genus for it too. Wondering if there is a new batch somewhere?

It was listed on LLL reptile yesterday for about two hours. I went to look for it today and its gone. It was listed as a chameaeleo cephelolepis instead of furcifer. That's why I couldn't find info on it until I discovered mistake. I wouldn't ever order anything from LLL but I was amazed at the variety they had. Yes Kinyonga, adcham is where i discovered mistake and the resulting info. It looks like a pretty neat species. Do you know if anyone breeds these or if more reputable dealers ever get them? I already checked with NICK at first choice. I have no idea on the difficulty of raising these. Thanks David

Wow! Really.....how much did they want for them? I might have to drive up and take a look tomorrow!

I don't remember how much, but I remember it was really cheap, like less that a hundred bucks. You might want to call them first. It was only posted for a few hours. I was looking for other supplies and noticed them around eight pm. I rechecked because of the problem with the genus and it was gone by ten pm. Checked again this morning and not there. I don't know if that means they sold or it was a mistake. Sorry about not remembering the price, I looked at so many I couldn't tell you. They also had the bitaeniatus I think. Isn't this the two lined cham? Twenty nine dollors I think.

Cool, thanks. Under a hundred is close enough :) I'll give a call in the morning and see what I can find out. Thanks for the heads-up!

Haven't seen any wild-caughts in a while. There was a group that came in some years back that I believe a number of people had success breeding and cb's were available sporadically. I think the one Chris. A. had for sale may have been related to those? Anyway, pretty uncommon and I think not too difficult to work with if they come in healthy.

Thanks, I've had chams for about five years but only panthers and veiled. I want to branch out to another variety in the near future, one of the smaller breeds. Something like a rudis, elliotti or maybe a cristatus or maybe montium, montium. I'm afraid of getting in over my head though. It's taken me five years to get the easiest of species down. Good luck and let me know about tomorrow. David

I had 1.2 around the year 2000. They were a neat little chameleon....seemed to like to lay their eggs in the flower pot. They didn't seem too hard to keep....quite similar to panthers.

Are you talking about the dwarf? If so, I'm glad to hear it. Have you had any of the others that I mentioned? Thanks david

Yes, the 1.2 were cephs.

I had a very few rudis and a couple of gracefuls quite a long time ago too. They were all WC's and the gracefuls came in looking terrible and with apparent health issues...so they didn't do well. They also seem to be a more nervous chameleon. The rudis did better.

is this dwarf panther coloration pretty much green and brown?
or are they as colorful as pardalis?
I'm very much interested in it too.. if the care is the same.

Just called LLL. She said they hadn't just had any but it would be cool if they could get them.
