Dumeril's Boa- any experience anyone?

My boyfriend actually rescued a breeding pair of these guys last year. Kept in super rough conditions before that but they have really blossomed since he rescued them.
The male has a strong feeding response and will strike at the glass if he has not been fed yet and see's a rat or even smells it. The female is SUPER laid back, big big girl too. We are thinking she weighs around 30-35 pounds of pure muscle. They are also humidity suckers, think terrestrial panther chameleon almost. Also a really neat live baring species, babies go into shed right after birth.
Is there anything is particular you were wondering about them?

No real questions I guess just getting an idea of whether they are as great as people say- what sort of heating did you provide? Interesting about the higher humidity, makes sense I guess- so that shouldnt be a problem either,
i think the girl is not big-I think maybe only 4-6ft and she's adult. I hope she's not 30-35lb! thats for sure!
The man that has them for sale specialises in sp from Madagascar.
I have a rainbow Boa and a corn at the moment, but have had a white lip python( never again!!!) an anaconda ( never again!!!) and boas but she sounds so calm and sweet I'm trying to fight the urge but I may PM him. I wouldnt want anything bigger than 6-7ft though.
I'll have a think.

The type of heating really depends on the type of enclosure you will be using. You definitely don't want something like a fish tank. These guys aren't like Chams where they need airflow they do fine with limited ventilation it would also be hard to keep up humidity. Ig if you wanted to compare them to Chams I would say. Pygmy being that they are ground boas they are more exposed to stagnant air. Heat bulbs will dry out the air so I'd recommend an undertank heater or heat panels, again it depends on the type of enclosure.

I think they are a lot of fun, they have a beautiful iridescent sheen. Our male is usually the most active, but I think that is because the female hogs the hide so he has to sleep outside the hut and watch us.
I want to say the female is about 6 feet, but she is definitely thick and because the male is a little mouthy we don't take her out as much as we would like to, so I cannot say for sure.
As far as heat goes, their tank just has a ceramic heat emitter above the hide to keep that warm. Otherwise the room temperature is kept around mid 80's all the time and that seems to keep them happy.
It never hurts to message the guy though and get pictures of the actual animal and information on her.
