How cold will these guys tolerate? I know they won't breed readily, just wondering how cold before they will start dieing?

And--my bins got really moist, so I changed out all their egg crates (what a task!) to try and prevent any mold. but their frass at the bottom, which is a ton, got really most too.. should this be okay? I have them outside to hopefully air out/dry out.

They DO breed in cold temps. Most people do not believe this to be true. Of course they breed a lot quicker in warm temp.

Is your bin getting wet because you have no screens?

Cut out a huge hole on the lid, and hot glue a metal screen on the inside of the lid.

Bring them inside, always keep them between 80-95. Keep a wet food or even better, a ghann's cricket water source profuct. Ghann's water sources are awesome.

Is this a BIG colony you want to breed and live out a healthy life making babies for you?

Feed them powdered chicken mash or cat food. Dry food grounded up. Coffee grinder is nice but small. Get a large powder maker of some sort if you want the task to be a lot less time consuming.

Orange slices are great to keep a citrus scent to the bin.

Those egg crates are OK as long as you install a screen a let that bin of yours to air out.

I put a red night light inside of my bin, 75 watt. Duct tape the wire, the heat lamp is right above the stack of egg crates. When this heat lamp is actually inside of the huge bin, it heats it up to 95, I turn the light off at night.

To be safer, place a heat lamp above the screen if you don't like the idea.
