Drinking water but not eating

Hello Everyone,

My female jackson chameleon is I'm guessing a few months old, maybe 5-8 at the most. I'm really not sure. She's pretty big but still small if that makes sense. I got her about 2 weeks ago and she seemed really healthy. Her and the male I got were the biggest ones in the cage so I chose them.

Since then she doesn't seem to eat at all. I put mealworms and small crickets in the cage. I also just got a bowl to keep the worms in. Yet she doesn't seem to eat. And I'm pretty sure of this because there's been no poop in her cage.

However, she does move around the cage and drink water regularly. So she doesn't really seem to be sick or anything.

But she does always back away when I'm try to pick her up. She always backs away and almost falls whenever i mist her and the cage. She seems to really hate it.

Does anyone have any ideas why she's not eating?

Thanks in advance.

No idea why she isn't eating but she's drinking so that's a good thing.

All the chams I have hate being misted or sprayed. Try not to spray her directly but do mist/spray the plants. Most of my chams seem to tolerate water dripping on them from above.

Take a look at the post "How to ask for help" in the Health Clinic forum.
It will give you a template to fill out that allows others to help troubleshoot your current problem/issue.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Thanks for the welcome Dlegare! I will fill the template out.

She seems to hate the mist more than the male but I guess that is normal still.

Are they WC or CB? Is the male eating? Are you housing them together?

They are captive born. I had them together for a few days since they're still small. But separated them over a week ago thinking that might help. She's in a 18x18x30 cage with lots of space.

Does she have lots of cover at the top of her cage so she can hide and feel safe?
