Does anyone have a crested gecko? And should I move one into my already made chameleon enclosure due to me getting my chameleon a much bigger one?

So I have a 18x18x24in enclosure with another cage on top to make it taller. I plan on buying a new enclosure for my chameleon and want to get a crested gecko into the glass tank. My question is: should I strip the tank clean, or should I leave it how it is (it’s bio active btw) and just out the crested gecko into the tank?

-I know this is a chameleon forum but I thought it would be worth a shot and I leave no rock unturned because si want the best for all of my baby’s.

Hey, now, I don’t know very much about crested geckos since I don’t own one- but I’ve read a few things:

For lighting and stuff, low UVB can also be beneficial. As well as low basking. I found this page on Reddit if you would like to look at it. Not sure if the link will send you to the page but:

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrestedGecko/comments/vp6pj6/do_crested_geckos_need_a_uvb_and_a_heat_light/

Also, make sure the top of your is mesh so he/ she can get ventilation.

Again, I don’t know a lot about crested geckos. I would recommend to also do research.

Sorry if this didn’t help with your original comment, but from what I can tell, it looks good. A recommendation is to add more branches.

Make sure you also have a water dish and a food dish. From what I’ve read, cresties prefer their food dishes on a ledge or higher up in the enclosure. Here’s another Reddit page I found about water/ food dishes :) ( again, sorry if the link doesn’t work ) :

Sorry this is really late lol.

Weather or not the links work is fine!!! Thank you so much and I appreciate your trying to help 😆😆😆😆. Your amazing and I hope you and your reptiles are doing amazing 😁😁😁😁😁

Thanks, did you ever end up getting the crestie?

Fun fact, I was originally going to get a crested gecko before I got Spyro ( my veiled chameleon ).
No sadly 🥲. I was going to after I got a proper enclosure for my veiled but then some troubles came up and now I can’t afford either 🥲. It’s ok though I just need to work a bit more and then I’ll have everything set up and I’ll get a cresti 😆. If you don’t mind my asking, what type of credti were you looking at?

Not really sure lol. I was just looking at cresties. Then I just thought “ wouldn’t it be cool to have a chameleon ?” And yeah.

Also, what type of cage do you have for your cham? What lighting? What’s his/ her diet?

Sorry, i just wanna make sure you’re taking good care of your Cham lol. I just looked at your blog and was wondering.

So this is what his temperature enclosure looks like. The mesh cage is the large mesh cage from zoomed and the glass one is a 24x24x30 something inches I think? I’m using two different bulbs for heating and I honestly forgot the wots so I’d have to go to the store and see what I use, for the long one though I also forgot the name 💀. I think it’s the zoomed repti sun. His diet mostly consisted of calcium covered crickets but on occasions I’ll add in a few silk or juvenile horn worms. Oh and I also have a fogging system that I use

What calcium do you use? Do you remember if it was Reptisun 5.0 or 10.0?

I would add more branches near the top if you can. Aswell as a plant near the middle section where the glass tank and the screen tank connect.

Also, are you misting his cage or are you only using a fogger?

Also, this is my cham’s cage. As you can tell, he has plants and branches all over. Not trying to make it seem like Thats exactly how you need it, or if im trying to show off or something. Just trying to help others :).

Also, if you would like to ask any questions, feel free to :). Am always willing to help :).

Man you have a nice cage 🥲🥲🥲. I believe the reptisun is 10. And I CNA definitely add more branches and plants, would it be a good idea to use the two pothos I took pictures of in the middle section or should I go a different route?

I use both the misting and Fogger. I mist in the morning and at night, but I do mid day if I have a chance. I use the digger primarily at night though go to help keep the humidity up all night.

And back to the plants, if I shouldn’t use those two pothos plants what would be some better choices and how should I go about in incorporating them?

Yes! Pothos are great for chams. Also, don’t be surprised if he starts nibbling the leaves. Pothos are nontoxic for chameleons and can grow vines which you can wrap around branches ( like I do ).

And good misting and fogging systems. I have an automatic mister but sometimes hand mist.

also, your calcium is the same I use lol. It one of the recommended brands for chams. Do you use multivitamins and d3 every 2 weeks or once a month? Like Reptivite?

Also, 10 is too high for veiled chameleons. 5.0 is recommended and the perfect amount. However, it is good that your branch under the UVB looks to be farther away. But, I would still get a 5.0. Either Reptisun T5 HO 5.0 or Arcadia 6%. Like one of these ( I’ll send a pic ). I have an extra for when the current one goes out. :)

Feel free to ask anything else! :).

Do you know if a good way that I can get the pothos to the connecting points of the cage at all? The calcium I sent you is what to use on the daily, BUT I do the D3 twice a month (once at the beginning and end of the month). And I’ll defiantly do a .5 when I DK my bulb chance in a few months (like 2-3 I think)

From what I can’t tell in the picture you sent of your cage, you could probably attach it to your cage in two ways:

A. You can use whatever you use to attach your branches, vines, etc and wrap it around the plant pot and attach it to the branch in the middle of where your cages connect.

Or

B. You basically do the same as A, you just attach it to the walls of the cage ( probably the screen part ).

It also depends on what you use to attach your stuff together. If you use zipties or something similar, you could do it like I described. If you use Animal safe spray foam or glue or something, you could just stick it to the branch easier. Although, I’m not sure if glue is safe for chams or not.

I’ll also draw what I think could work. Sorry if my artistic skills aren’t the best…
