Discoloration

Hi everyone this is emmet, he is about a year and a half. I’ve made a few posts about this before, but nothing has changed and I’m starting to get worried. It seems like really sudden he lost all of his color, I know everyone is saying it’s normal and they just do that with the seasons, but it’s been over 4 months and he’s still like this, and we have had some really nice weather for the past few weeks. I’ll put 2 pictures, one of him about 4 months ago and one of him today. What’s weird is he’s eating normal, acting normal, and everything is normal except his color. And it doesn’t seem to be getting better he just seems to be losing more color. Someone please help and tell me if this is normal and if/when his color will come back. I just want him to be healthy obviously but I miss his pretty colors haha. And I know his back is a little weird in the second pic, it’s cause he burnt it a while ago but it’s better now.

If he’s eating and active daily then I’d be willing to bet he’s fine. I have an Ambanja in a funk right now too just like yours is and aside from his color he’s given me no reason to worry. The 2 pictures are the same chameleon just a few months apart.

Did you ever do a full husbandry review just to rule out other variables? Panthers can go through color funks but it is important to rule out anything within the husbandry that could be contributing.

Yeah, I haven’t changed his cage at all. It’s been the same since we got him

Thank you, that makes me feel better. Beautiful boy by the way

So I just went through all of your prior threads and you have never done a husbandry review. I highly recommend doing one. Something slight or major could be off that is effecting his color. Even UVB being positioned incorrectly or a cage that is too small for an adult male.

Should you decide you would like to do one let us know and we will provide the questions for you to answer.

Ah thank you, sorry lol I thought you meant like review if you have changed anything in the cage. Yeah I’ll post one soon. Thanks!!

You should do the husbandry review. He’s probably fine and will color up soon but he could be declining because he was tolerating a lack of something as long as he could but has run out of steam. Something as simple as lighting times can slowly throw them off.

I posted one a few days ago
