Different Walking/Climbing Style

So when I got Archimedes he used this weird "walk"-raising one leg in front of him and jerking back and forth before putting it down. He then continued to do the same with his other front leg. (sort of like this cham https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc0l05h7NIw ) I've seen many other chameleons walk this way. Recently, he's stopped doing this and just climbs/walks normally with no jerking or pausing with one leg in mid air.
What is this behaviour and why did he stop?

Thanks a ton,
Patrick

That's the "leaf walk". A lot of chams do when they are young, and some never grow out of it. It's believed to be a camouflage mechanism. My jax still leaf walks when he thinks he's being sneaky and other times he's go go go. Totally normal.
