Denver Repticon disappointing

Here I was all excited about Repticon coming to Denver since the local shows are pretty small compared to the Texas shows. I figured a big show would bring in better vendors in addition to the locals. I was wrong! There were seriously like 10 vendors total, most of whom only had supplies and no reptiles to speak of. And the reptiles that were there were 90% ball pythons and leopard geckos. Lame. I was really hoping for some pygmies so I could pick them out and avoid shipping. The only thing worth looking at was a little peacock day gecko. I considered it for a bit but my hubby wouldn't have been pleased by another new addition right now. ;)

Vivarium Art terrariums were definitely the highlight. They make some of the coolest cages, all completely self contained and lightweight! They're pricey but worth it imo. They have a big cham cage now that hangs that I'd love to put on my balcony! And some of the smaller ones have a waterfall feature that doesn't actually pool at the bottom so I think it'd be great for pygmies.

All in all though, pretty lame. No love in Colorado for the herps. :( I want to go to the California mega shows!

The show I went to here in West Palm Beach Florida was way smaller than I thought, but nothing in lameness compared to what you are describing! lol When my daughter and I went into the show we thought it looked huge...come to find it was a gigantic wall mirror and the show ended there! We thought we had a whole nother room to check out. Lots of chams at mine though and they were all in very nice shape which was a pleasant surprise.

Yeah the super show in January in LA was huge. I'm going to the repticon I so cal soon an I hope to pick something up.

Haha, that's awesome! They should have done a big mirror at this one to help hide how tiny it was. Not a single cham at the last several shows I've been to! And I'm all stocked up on supplies so I guess I should stop going and getting disappointed. :(

I don't know...I've been to herp shows in CO years ago and was always concerned when they offered high humidity species. It can be complicated and expensive to care for them in that climate and so many people are impulse buyers. My house in Bailey CO would hover at about 3% RH unless I interfered, and I had about 6 species at that time.
