Delivery problems

Glad you finally got your ExoTerra. For what it's worth, a good friend of mine is a manager for one of the big shipping companies. I asked him about Fragile stickers on boxes they are shipping and he told me they laugh at them. They don't take any extra precautions, no matter what kind of stickers are on the boxes. He said they don't have that kind of time, when deliveries are guaranteed by certain drop times, but I just think it's laziness on a corporate level.

I pretty much figured that out after the second broken delivery.

I had images of THIS as the prefered delivery method UPS and FED EX use on fragile stuff:

Thanks for confirming it. :)

That is just too funny :D

It's so easy to picture this in my head.
I'm sure the UPS/FedEx guyz laugh their butts off when they hear the 'tinkle-tinkle' of broken glass!!

I have ordered several of these, not one every arrived in one piece, even the small ones

I ordered a smaller one (it's actually a zoo med, but it's about the same setup as exo terra, but single door instead of two) from Petstore.com and I was AMAZED by the packing job they did. I thought for sure it would be broken, outside box had LOTS of cuts and dents. They had an outside box that was double thickness, then tons (5 kitchen garbage bags worth) of styrofoam packing peanuts, then a double wrap of big bubble wrap, then the zoomed partial box. UPS could've sat on it and thrown it (probably did!) and it wouldn't have been damaged. Took me over 20 minutes just to open the darn thing. I reused the packing peanuts for storing Christmas decorations that are fragile, but I still have tons of them left.

wow

A lot of trouble for something that should have been common sense. some people are just to dumb to know how to pack and deliver stuff. I'm sorry you had to go through all that trouble. that's one of the reasons i quit ordering from Amazon. i now order off of ebay.

The one I finally got was so simply boxed, just the OEM box with no exta outer box or foam corners. The difference was In the fact is was strapped to a pallet and shipped upright. Makes you wonder sometimes.

I still prefer Amazon for 90%+ of the things I order, because I have a prime membership and most things I want can be found with the 2 day shipping. I use eBay from time to time, but for some reason, I find it harder to trust many sellers. At least with Amazon, if it aint right, I can return it and they pay for it. I have not had that with eBay and have had to use meadiation (sp?) to get a refund.

This experience was the exception. Frustrating as heck, but the exception.
