Dehydrated, lethargic chams

Dez that is what I was thinking too. I thought they were small and that maybe it was normal for the growth rate to be slow... until I saw a post that JannB's baby Sadie weighed more then these!!
Jack I have upped the crickets to 1/4 inch..there were on 1/8 inch until a couple weeks ago when I got my last delivery. I have yet to have gotten them to eat horn or silk. My Sambava does though.

Steamer broke in the process... now I need a new one $$
Vet bill that I know I am already up to just today $300.
Cost of my babies $Priceless$
Hopefully people will read this and see how easily the vet care can cost more then the chameleon, and how fast it can add up for just one day care.

They are so small for their age. The look of them makes me think there is a nutrient imbalance but not just a normal calcium deficiency...but I'm not a vet. (Not saying that they don't have a respiratory issue too....but their growth is stunted.)

I normally gutload with fresh cut apple, carrots, leafy greens, and cricket crack.
I have since called the local vet that not only advetises that they do reptiles ... and have taken fecals in to be tested are now saying they really dont do reptiles and can only read fecals for what they are trained to do!!! Then why the heck did they tell me they could do them and advertise it!!! Chances are this was something that could have been detected and was missed! I am beyond upset!

I am so very sorry for the loss of your little boy. My heart is heavy for you and your little ones. I will keep praying for your little girl. I hope she is in the hands of a good chameleon vet. There's not many out there and the sad part is they will still take your money and some will even act like they know what they are doing when they really have no chameleon knowledge at all.
I honestly think the fight is out of the little girl. We have sent the boy out for a necropsy to determine exactly what is it we are fighting. The do not have respiratory, the little boy was gagging from trying to give water orally and that is what the saliva was.

I know it sounds crazy but colleges with veterinary programs will often talk to you about your reptile problems! I once called about a very sick chameleon and they have me some advice. I don't know there number, but MSU has one. They are college kids I believe, but a call is worth a shot.

) pet supplies plus or pet smart have some really good people who work there and have personal experience with chameleons and such. These people have really helped me bofore
I'm no professional by any means, but i agree with upping the heat and increasing your water. You can buy an emergency reptile formula from Pet supplies plus or pet smart that would be good for a very last hope. I did it once and it helped my chameleon for a couple days.

I think you may need to look at thing such as dehydration or cleaning the environment, I recently had precisely the same issue with my male : he was walking around with both eyes shut.
I gave him a good watering with warm water ( sprayed directly on his face and body and near his eyes too - as they can sometime stick).
This did the trick and he is walking around happy as larry now, but has become more placid - part of me thinks he sort of knows that I was holding him when he was ill and I was sorting him out. But he became normal overnight, the next morning he was fine.
1. Ensure there is plenty of ventilation ( to stop respiratory disease)
2. Ensure you don't mist him TOO MUCH as the air can go stagnant
3. Ensure that your basking temp is about 30 Celsius and your ambient ( diagonally opposite the basking point and at the bottom or a 3rd up from the floor) is about 20 degrees celcius - if it gets too hot / dry the eyelids can 'stick'
Hopefully all will be good,. I was having a right panic the other day and I learnt all of this from just asking my pet store and asking for help on here. Hope we hear good news about your chameleons recovery

They vet has already rulled out husbandy, feeding or suppliment issues. At this point they suspect there was a issue that was not picked up in the fecal I had done on them 2 months ago when they arrived. That was done by a local vet clinic that told me they saw reptiles and could do reptile fecals. Now we know that was not the case. This would explain why they were not growing as they should have been. We will find out for sure what happened when the necropsy (autopsy) report comes back on the male.

Petsmart and such is not an option unless I want someone who can catch fish and read off of a pamplet what a chameloen should have which is a joke!

No I purchased them a couple months ago and had them shipped to me.
So do you frequent those shows?? We might have actually seen each other at one point
