Cycling ad light questions??

Hey everybody,
i've heard of people cycling theyre chams so they'll mate?? If this true than couls someone explain it and also i kow that most reptile lights that arent UVB oriented are all about the UVA output and thats supposed to trigger breeding behavior. Does anyone know if thats true or is it just another selling point. So if anyones knows about the cycling or the lights could they get back thanks.

I think personally lights have NO bearing on the situation, when a female is receptive and is introduced to a male they will breed regardless of the lighting!!

Here's what I could find about it that didn't come from a lighting company...

"It has been demonstrated that UVA can influence agonistic, reproductive, and signaling behaviors in some species of lizards (Gehrmann, 1994A) as well as inhibit growth in female panther chameleons, Chamaeleo pardalis (Ferguson, et al., 1996). A UVA requirement for long-term health and reproduction of captive reptiles has not been demonstrated. However, because UVA is a component of natural light in many environments, e.g. deserts, appears to stimulate social behavior, and does seem to be nondetrimental even at high irradiances, some herpetoculturists may elect to use a blacklight in conjunction with some other visible light and/or heat emitting lamp."
