Cup Feeding Help

Hello everyone I just received my knew veiled chameleon today! I will be posting pics in a few days. I have question for those who use the cup feeding method. How did you introduce the cup with food in it to your Cham? I am worried that he will not know that his food is in the cup. If anyone has any suggestions or advice for me on the ways to use the method that would be great. I appreciate anyone aside greatly. Thanks a lot!

Here is what I have done and it has worked well for me. I will post a picture so you can see somewhat what I am talking about. I place it lower in the cage (the cage in the picture is a baby cage but if you are using a larger cage about half way down). Place a nice perching spot "vine" about 1" above the edge of the cup. This will allow him to look down and see activity in the cup that get him/her to come down to check it out. I also hot glue in aluminum mesh in the bottom so any mist goes through and take sand paper and scratch up the back of the "jug" so that bugs can crawl up the back and fall back down into the cup.

All this said some chams accept it and some not as much. My cham will get any food free ranging first before going down to the cup and he will not let me see him eat from the cup. If I catch him eating from the cup he will go straight back up to his basking spot. If you have a misting system I recommend you place the mister on the same side as the cup so that you get less water in the cup to wash off supplements. (not like the picture below)

hi sorry to but in.iv just moved my month old veiled chameleon into a gallon flexarium im just worried incase she doesnt find her food help please

For a one month old I would be giving her fruit flies and pin heads and for those you need to free range them and let them hunt. I would just make sure there are enough in there that she CAN find them.

What does her cage look like? can you post pictures of your set up? Not sure it is appropriate for a chameleon.

sorry i meant 11 month old veiled chameleon

Ok...well it is even more important you post pictures. He should be in a 2ftx2ftx4ft screen cage at this point. How big is the "gallon flexarium"? You should be able to cup feed most food.

Looks good to me...I would put a cup in on the side and put some vines for her to sit on when she is feeding in the cup below. You just want to make sure that the cup has holes to let out any water and so that it doesn't kill the bugs.

i use the to-go pint and quart cups that you would get from chinese take out, you wanna make sure that the cup is opaque so your cham doesnt shoot at the side of the cup and possible injure their tongue...pm me if you wanna see pics
