I would agree that a visit to the vet would diagnose any underlying issues that may not be evident. It is sometimes hard to tell what's going on with chameleons until it's too late, so the vet is always good.
Someone brought it to my attention that him closing his eyes could be because of his enclosure and i added more leaves in and he rarely ever closes his eyes and he started eating again and has been drinking a lot and the yellow buildup on his nose has broken up to where i got it off with a q-tip vet appointment is soon though just to make sure everything is still goodYou should be supplementing with a multivitamin that contains beta-carotene (prEformed Vit-A) twice per month.
Adding a prOformed Vit-A supplement can be dangerous and easily over dosed causing health issues for chameleons.
As long as you are gutloading your feeders properly with fresh leafy veggies then you should'nt need to add prOformed Vit-A. The only way to tell for sure that your chams eye problems are cause by Vit-A deficiency is from a blood test by a vet. Usually, eye issues are caused by something else.
What exactly is going on with your chameleons eyes? Is he constantly missing when he shoots his tongue?
@Graves923 said. "beta-carotene (prEformed Vit-A) twice per month"....beta carotene is not prEformed it's prOformed. Animal sources if vitamin a and retinol, retinyl, etc are prEformed sources. PrEformed.... means it's already formed when the chameleon gets it...which animal and man made sources are. PrOformed....means it has to be formed by the body once it's ingested.
A respiratory infection can cause eye issues.
