Constantly dark green

Hello,

My female veiled chameleon has been a very dark green, almost black, color since I put her in her new cage. It is a Zoo Med Reptibreeze size small. Whenever I get her out to feed her, she is almost instantly bright green and very colorful. Any ideas to what is upsetting her?

I think that she is between 10 months to 1 year old. She had MBD when I rescued her, and she has recently improved enough to walk around and climb which is why I got her a new cage.

I do not have any good pictures of the cage itself, but here is what I do have.

I know that water bowls are a no no, but it is just in there whenever I have her dripper on. I take it out after she is done drinking.

Also, she isn't the dark color that was mentioned before. This is the color she usually is. The pictures were taken when I first put her in there.

Shes probably just getting used to her new home..
and im sohappy you are taking care of her, but seeing her breaks my heart.
:(

I hope that is all it is. It's just that she has been in there for a few weeks now, and guess I just expected her to be okay with everything at this point.

If only you could actually see her in person. She is so full of spunk and life now, it makes me incredibly happy whenever I see her being able to move and actually have control of her own body :)

oh man. she was in bad shape.. she just needs to get used to her new cage. try using more plants. more hidding spots. also a small reptibreeze doesnt sound big enough for a 10 month old. im sure she has special needs and probly a smalled cage would be good for her, so she doesnt take a big fall. i wish i could help you out more but all i can think of is more hidding spots for her.

she doesnt seem that dark to me... im sure she will settle in, maybe she jsut needs a little more foliage.
and im glad shes doin gso well for you. and that she can control her limbs, always important...

it just makes me so angry that this happened to her, and so sad for her. but glad she has you!

In these pictures she isn't as dark as she had been. I'm at work right now, but when I get home I am going to take a few pictures of her if she is still in a foul mood.

I love Jojo. She always looks so happy:)

Thats all I have other than I agree she may just need to settle in a bit.

That made me laugh because I think the same thing.

My options are very limited on what I can give her for hiding. She gets stuck really easily in leaves and vines. She needs stuff that she can grip like sticks and such, so the most that I can do is get bigger sticks :C

Well, if the general agreement is that she needs more time to settle in, then I will give her more time. I just miss the easter colors :D

oh :'( i almost cried when i saw her. whoever had her before and didnt care for her...if i ever met someone like that i dont think i could controll myself and im usually very in controll. thankyou for careing for her, alot of people dont have hearts that big.

Its a nice thing you are doing, did you have her in anything before the reptibreeze, that she seemed to be content in. As you know she probably don't even need a big cage at the moment either.

Maybe try to corner area off of a room make a small spot to let her hang out without the cage. almost like little chameleon pen on the ground with vines and small plant with her lights.

Its hard to believe any one could let an animal get to that point. Im glad she is doing better with you and improving.
