hello all first post =] I'm new hehe, just wondering if any of you have frogs and chams together or chams with snakes and if possible can you have two chams together or a cham and red eyed tree frog cause i have all the proper equipment and i have been reading a lot on the forum and i was thinking about getting either a senegal or a flapneck but i also love the red eyed tree frogs and was wondering if they can be together. any help would be much appreciated. i would like to have both together but haven't found any info or anyone with experience on that topic. i don't want them fighting or getting eaten. Also i was thinking what cham would be better for me to get i really like the senegal for their size but really like the flapneck due to their colour changing more often, and would it be better to ask the pet store to order one for me or to buy online, i found one site(Reptile City) dont know if any of you got an animal from there, oh and my terrarium size is 18"x18"x24" if it maters cause i dont want them to be stressed and or crowded. sorry for long post but i just really want the best care from my cham and thank you for reading =]

Hello and welcome to the Chameleon Forums. Chameleons need to be housed alone except for a couiple of breeds such as Brevicaudatus and sometimes Melleri. Senegal are not a good first time cham they are more difficult to keep than a veiled or panther.

Chams should not be housed together(Few exceptions that Jann posted above) and NEVER with any other animal of any kind. If you have never had a chameleon before I will also agree with Jann and say not a Senegal-they are always wildcaught and do no acclimate. In fact there are very few sucess stories with them. Flapnecks as CB are pretty similar to Veileds in care. Welcome to the Forum-you have certainly come to the right place to research and ask questions BEFORE you buy! :)

thanks very much! i was thinking they should be alone due to stress and not eating. Brevicaudatus and Melleri how big would you say and adult will be and will it be cofterable in my set up? will post pictures soon by the way. thank guys

18X18X24 really is not big enough for even a Flapneck. Actually a pair or trio of Brevs (Pygmy chams) would work out great in terrarium that size. Mellers are amongst the biggest chams and never recommended for a starter cham. You are looking at cage sizes of 4X4X8 feet or larger for adults.

Mellers age huge and heavy you almost have to go to the red wood forest to find branches for them... Ok well not that big but they are pretty big. I would go with a veiled. I did and I ablsolutly love him!! I am actually getting a Panther this Christmas... Hope all goes well for you and when you do get one please post pictures!!!
