Cockroach rant

I ordered a large number of Eublaberus posticus. When the order came I opened the box to find a bunch of Blaptica dubia! So I contacted the seller, who then told me that I was basically wrong and that they were Eublaberus posticus and not blaptica dubia. Let me say that if you have ever seen (let alone own) the two roaches, it is incredibly hard to mistake them for each other.

I asked how the seller wanted to handle the issue, and you know what they told me? They told me to sell the roaches myself because they sent me well over what I paid for! They sent me a good deal on the original species, but not dubias! I would have to sell the dubia at almost 1.5X the price I normally do to get my money back! I don't even like to sell roaches I haven't bred myself, so how on earth am I supposed to sell ones that I can't even assure the quality of for almost twice my normal price?

Blagh. I just wanted to rant to some people who might understand. When I talk to people not online, they just try not to laugh or make the "ew" face because I bought roaches.

take this rant to fauna be 1 step closer. At least some people will at least think twice if they see the shady cock roach seller.

Hahaha,...exactly. People think I'm crazy for buying roaches. I just think they are crazy for thier ignorance.

Thats a bunch of BS! I understand how you feel, my own family was even crackin jokes for a good ten minutes last night a my brothers b day dinner:( Made me feel like s**t... just wanted to walk out

Ya,...but thats what you get from people that aren't educated. They think a roach is a roach no matter how you look at it. A bug that will devoure your house, infest your walls, and stink up the place while scampering/climbing away. I dred it when my mom brings up the topic at holiday gatherings. I tend to leave the room. I've given up on explaining, when I do they dont listen and just look asif I'm nuts. They don't realize that each species as specific requirments ( doubt they realize there's different species lol)....But thats how snakes are aswell. Viewed as a lethal animal.

Pssh, I wouldnt give up on trying to set things straight.

Yep. I find that a lot of people get over the fear or ignorance after they meet a roach or two. Some of them are even willing to hold them.

I still can't stand roaches, even 2-3 years after keeping large colonies of them. If I see a wild one I am up on furniture, screeching for the nearest man to kill it! But I do value them as feeders. Except the niveas that you sent me, Pssh, those I do actually kinda like. Not to hold, but one step at a time!

I would still talk to the breeder, tell him that you will publish this on somewhere like Fauna if he doesn't correct what is very clearly an error on his part.

I remember in 7th grade, I held two hissing roaches. Kissed one. yeah kinda gross, now that I think of it. Now that I have dubia, I won't touch them. Unless it's with the 10" feeding tongs, even with the little ones. I haven't touched one yet!

I hope the seller turns around and does the right thing for you.

good to hear you still have the nivea and are getting used to them. Since they burrow they seem to be easier.

Still waiting on a response, but I've already told them I would like to work it out instead of having to post a thread on the BOI.

So was mine the other day!! they didn't care about me... they were just laughing their butt off that I fed them fruits and veggies. I actually did walk out :p I'm a rebel!!! :D

After a week of trying to convince them they sent the wrong species (which still hasn't worked even though I sent pictures of the species I wanted, and the ad title even had the species name in it!) they have finally decided to "allow" me to send them back and refund me. Problem is, they are "going on vacation" for two weeks and wont do it til then! What do I do? I don't want these, and I don't want to risk keeping them for 2 weeks!

I made a paypal claim because I'm tired of this, but I just want a refund and to send them back.
