Cloacal Prolapse

Hello,

My male Jackson had an extreme cloacal prolapse yesterday, so I rushed him to the vet. I unfortunately do not have photos of the prolapse, but it was quite bad compared to other photos I have seen on the forums.

How can this be prevented in the future? Is it a feeder issue? Hydration issue? I’m assuming he wouldn’t just push his bowels that hard himself resulting in a prolapse. There’s gotta be something wrong here.

Thanks

So prolapse can also be related to hydration. If they are not hydrated enough and straining. If you do not have a dripper going I would add one.
