Just wondering what you all use to clean out the cages. I want to kill any bacteria, but don't want to use anything too harsh that might hurt my little dude. What do you use?

hot water in a bottle with maybe a quarter of the cap filled with bleach if you'd like. let set and dry. Clean off again with just hot water. I usually just use really hot water since i cant stand the smell of bleach.

Vinegar works very well, and you can use more of it in your spray bottle solution.

Good question!!
So far all im doing is draining the excess water out of the bottom with a Shamwow!! Im guessing its gunna be time for a complete clean very soon!!!
Id be kinda wary about such strong cleansers like bleach!! I have been looking at Zillas complete reptarium cleaner that is supposed to be all natural and non toxic and you can put your cham back in right away!!!
I havent moved Guber into his big boy cage, so I`m sure there will be a whole new bunch of things to learn about cage cleaning!!!!
Im actually just about to head down to get me a box of feeders so I`ll ask the reptile guys there and have a look see at what products they have there!!!
Ciao For Now!!
Oh by the way,,,Molly,,,how do you get that space at the bottom that says what kind of cham you have and its name??

I have the water from my chams rain dome for spot cleaning I just wipe it up at the end of the day and for there monthly full cleanings I use water and bleach mixed 10:1 and clean there plants with hot water.

Vinegar, bleach, clorhexidine, and a 6-12% hydrogen peroxide are some of what people use. Clorhexidine (when diluted) is safe enough to use on open wounds on animals, so thats a good one. So is hydrogen peroxide as it is one of the only things that kills the coccidia parasite.

Thanks for the ideas.

Slinko9...I have a 4 week old veiled. I named him Kush. Yeah, I know there is a rather 'well known' chameleon named Kush, and I almost didn't name him that after I found out, but I thought of that name months ago and was kind of stuck on it. I'm just crazy about him, thought it worries me how young he is. He's just so little!

mostly I used white vinegar in hot water or a steam cleaner

hydrogen peroxide if I had a problem to deal with

thinking of buying a UV wand

Cleaning New/Used Cage

I just got a mesh cage (used) w/ lights, etc. I want to clean it before I put a new cham in it. I've read above that vinegar and hot water will work, or a weak bleach/water solution (10:1), however, what can I used to clean the screen without tearing/stretching/fraying it? Toothbrush?...not sponge. I want to have it immaculate before I put in the new animal. Thanks!:p

Use a 9-12% hydrogen peroxide solution otherwise any parasites the previous reptile had may get transfered to your lizards. Just soak/spray it and let it sit. Hose it down after.

So just mix the peroxide with water?? I bought the Zilla cleaner but think thats only good for glass!!! I do want to clean my big cage before my guy is ready!!!
