My female veiled hasnt eaten in like a week. i wasnt too worriod becuz i assumed she was just going to lay soon but today i felt like she had gone too long and stuck a grape(COVERD) in cal and she spit it out. i than tried the same with a criket and she tried to not kill it by not biteing down. i was feeling her arms and im scared they feel weaker and i dont want her to get MBD. idk when i assumed she was gravid. should i stick her in her laying bin? she walks around alllll day long alll over my room and stops to bask here and there. shes as spunky as ever but im weary. i will post how to ask for help if needed. thanks.

ps- she has a laying bin and constand accsess to it. vine leads in and it has a starter hole.

Sometimes they dont eat for a little while before they lay. Don't force her as it might stress her into egg binding. If you're worried, take her to the vet. As soon as she shows any signs of being ill, take her to the vet. Don't bother her too much or you may make her become egg bound.

no signs of illness. just not eating and walking around the floor alot. she doesnt show stress when i hold her but i havent been touching her much. im just felt her legs arms and jaw to make shure they arnt getting weak. they didnt feel as strong and i think becuz shes useing cal to make eggs and isnt eating any that would be bad. she got some in her tho becuz i heavily coasted the grape and crikets with cal. mabey i should buy liquid cal? she drinks alot so i cud drip it on her leaves and she would sip it up. put her in her bin? im more worriod about what to do and she will be taken to the vet if needed.

If you are concerned, go ahead and set up a huge bin and put her in there. Some females need to be isolated like that to promote laying. Put a small fake (or real) plant in there as it can help them feel more comfortable and encourage digging.

Liquid calcium would be a better option than force feeding.

They are all different. I thought Amy was due to lay soon (her last and first clutch was 14 months ago) but the vet couldn't feel any eggs in her and the xray didn't show any either. My first female went for 10 days without eating before laying her first clutch, whereas Amy ate on the morning she laid. Like has already been said, if she does anything unusual, such as closing her eyes int he day then it's vets time! Amy was sat all day on Wednesday with her head up and that rang alarm bells with me as she never sits like that! When we see them day in, day out we get to know what is normal for them. As soon as mine show any odd behaviour they are straight to the vets, even if it turns out that thre is nothing wrong, at least it sets my mind at rest.

just like what was stated above. you cant always go off of tell tell signs. My girls will stay dark in color for the most part (some also stay light green), look plump, as stated some will not eat and some will but usually will stop eating. i understand you free range so seeing other signs like wondering the bottom, scratching at the bottom or corners of the cage along with the other signs is something you cant refer to.

if you feel she is gravid...

something i will do for my females to help them while being gravid is extra calcium via liquid calcium. its just safe feeling for me and i feel my females lay and recover very quickly. imo, i dont believe one week without supplements will cause harm (mbd) to clair.

i dont know what size lay containers you have but i have good luck with large containers versus smaller ones. Use play sand 12-14 + inches deep and mix the first few inches with top soil. Make sure the sand has enough moisture to build tunnels that wont cave in. I put foliage in the container along with a few vines and a piece of drift wood. its just how i do it. im sure you dont have to go the lengths stated but i feel it helps the female feel a little safer to lay. id also give her as much alone time as you can.

im useing playsand i've got about 12+ icnhes of sand to dig in (garbage can) with a vine leading into it and also a stick inside. i need to get some liquid cal for her. this is so stressful :o shes been wondering alot for ever now. like weeks of just walking around my room. shes sticking to certain areas now. i rewet her playsand daily. i'll do everything y'all have said, lucky im not in my room very often. thankyou all :) ima find some liquid cal. i'll post here if theirs any new news about her condition.

Tell Clair that her mother in law says to lay those infertile eggs soon!
No more worrying mom, would be nice!
And i think the liquid calcium would help alot.
Im sure shes just a bit tired from trying to develop eggs.
Maybe you should just put her in the trash can for a few days and not let her out till she lays.
