My breeder told my to change around 9 months but I have seen people on here who say 6. My breeder has been keeping chams for over 20 yrs so I guess if it is good enough for her, it is good enough for anyone. Just personal choice I guess whether you want to do it at 6 months or longer.
I change mine once a year. Although, I do house my chameleons outside for at least a quarter of the year if not more. So at most my lights are on for 9 months out of the year. I have had no problems with this.
Hey Lisa!I regularly check my lights with a uvb meter, they always exceed the 6 month recommendation and they very often last up to 9 months, before i owned a meter i was replacing my uvb every 6 months. If your light is failing to produce uvb,you should notice your chameleon spending a lot more time under the fixture as it tries to absorb as much of the diminished uvb radiation as possible its time to change your light.English is my second laguage and i try very hard to correct my self,i hope my grammar is o.k.
thanks all..... i've only had it for 5 months and was just curious as to when to plan on replacing it.. i don't have a UVB meter so i'll probably give it another month or two and go ahead and pop a new one in...
