Changed chameleon ):

My dear friend amigo has changed for the worst. He is about a year and 7 months old, and now He doesn't let me take him out of the cage or even come near him without opening his mouth and making a quick movement towards me to scare me off. He use to let me take him out and he would enjoy it as far as I can see. Now it is completely different, he even looks meaner (if that's possible). Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? Has this happened to any of you before? Will he go back being the loving Cham I once knew? Please help. Makes me very unhappy that he's like this with me

Any chance he's shedding or about to shed? They get very irritable when they are, like it's "their time of month."

Otherwise, an unhappy chameleon suggests an ill chameleon (one in poor health). How is your husbandry? If you describe it, we can see if there's anything that jumps out as needing to be changed.

Key components:
Lighting
Temperature
Humidity
Feedings
Supplementation

It could be that he isn't feeling well.....but I know that my Loki has been the same way for the last few months...I mean he was never "excited" about being held but he would tolerate it...and then about 3 months ago he started hissing if we tried to pick him up....he will come out if I open his terrarium and wait patiently until he climbs out onto my hand...but if I put my hand into his terrarium he goes bonkers....he is in good health, plump and has awesome vibrant colors....he eats and drinks and poops...he spends all day roaming around his terrarium and hunting down crickets and what not....so I know he isn't sick....he is just a grumpy teenager lol......

Not all grumpy chams suggest illness.
He could be going through his 'teens'. Sometimes they come back round, sometimes not.
You just got to wait and see, go back to how you was when you first got him. Plenty of space, patience, hand feeding if he's ever done that.
Good luck, and don't take it personally ;)

It happens to the best of us. I am not including myself with the best by any means though! ;) I have gone through this with my veiled. He used to love coming out and then one day it was like a switch flipped. It doesn't necessarily mean you're doing anything wrong but if you are worried that you are, then full out the how to ask for help form in the health clinic section and we can tell you how you are doing. But just be patient with him. Try hand feeding with a cup or tongs and slowly work back into his good graces. Good luck!
