Alright, Jay has been asking for some updates, and I recently did up the little girls new cage.
I bought it from DIYcages.com
Overall, I am totally satisfied with the cage, one of the latches arrived broken on arrival. Presumably from shipping. I talked to DIYcages on the next business day and was sent a new latch with pop rivets a couple days later. They were very professional about the whole incident.
I just installed the fixed latch above the broken one. Easy enough.
The girl is missing a couple claws, yet she still tries to climb on the screen, which probably leads to more missing nails. So I went ahead and took the suggestion of the rock and roll clown, Todd M, and put up some hardware netting.
Works like a charm, she climbs it like she's Sylvester Stallone in a B thriller movie, and enjoys the extra coverage.
I first saw Todd using the hanging pothos on a dowel as the main plant in his old FL setup. I saw it in action at RyanJ's and it really seemed like a great idea. Pothos are impossible to overwater and seem to get gnats less easily.
Bowl of sand in there for her to toss around when she's in the mood. I have a 5 gallon to put in once she does, that or I could just put it in now, haven't gotten around to it.
Also, I was sent 2 extra latches. I took the spare latch and installed it on the bottom section of the door. Note that DIYCages doesn't have the opening bottom feature of the LLL cages. If you take out the 2 front screws and put in your own latches, you can achieve the same affect.
It's about bed-time, so I had trouble getting a good picture. That overgrown pothos is really great for hiding as well.
The end.
