Chameleon Rescue Group?

Ok, I have a female veiled that I adopted from a pet store, after purchasing one other from them. The purchased Cham was healthy, the adopted one was not. She was diagnosed with an eye infection in her Right Eye, that would heal up but reoccur throughout her life. I made a long post regarding this issue in the "Health Clinic". After bringing her home, we discovered that things were much worse than just an eye infection. She cannot eat on her own, she cannot drink on her own, and although she seems pretty content, she is A LOT of work, more than we had anticipated. At this point, with two dogs, a two year old, and a healthy cham, I think that Lucy's best option would be to be rehomed with someone with more time, who is home more often, to provide a better quality of life than we are now. I feel like we saved her from certain death, as no one was even aware she couldn't feed herself, but after a full month of 45 minutes a night trying to coax her to eat and drink, I don't think I can continue to do this for the next decade. Can anyone offer assistance, or help get me in touch with someone who can help this little girl?

Oh goodness. :( I would be more than happy to take her, but I am only at the same house 50% of the time and we are low on cash as well as time.

I really hope you find someone. I am also replying for the sake of this being seen.

My heart is breaking. I want to keep her, but I think I'm in over my head. I am new to reptiles in general, and was told by the vet she was healthy and doing well, besides her right eye being messed up. We were told that she would have eye infections on and off for the rest of her life, but expect a normal quality of life besides that for her. The first few weeks, I assumed she wasn't eating because of her eye, but now, I'm afraid this is permanent.

Where are you located incase some one with experience close by would like to take her. If not you can ship her to Elise. Call her and she will explain all the details. She takes in quite a few chameleons and has vets and allot of experience caring for sick ones.

Jannb, THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving me Elise's contact info. I called her right away, and she really boosted my confidence in dealing with Lucy's situation. I'm going to give it another month before making any decisions :)

please keep us updated on how she is doing and what you decide! JannB, you are wonderful! everyone here is so amazing and helpful :)
