Chameleon Quest

Pretty much i have everything you'd need to get to house a chameleon. I have the lights, cage, mister, etc.

The current cage i have is a 18x18x36" reptibreeze.

My girlfriend is on the hunt for a chameleon. She was thinking about getting a veiled, but i told her they get pretty hefty and we'd have to upgrade his cage when he's about 7 months. I would never want a veiled in a 18x18x36 enclosure. Also adding another giant cage in my room is out of the question, atleast for now haha.

So,

my question is...What type of MALE chameleons can she get that would be perfectly fine/happy in a 18x18x36" enclosure? I was thinking graceful, jacksons(They need tons of humidty/moisture though), carpet, ?. Petco has a veiled for $90 bucks, i was thinking about picking him up for her, but i'm not too sure if i'd want to spend that extra money in the long run.

Both should be under $100 and should be around a foot long. The flapneck should be closer to veiled easy, the graceful is closer to carpet care(95% humidity).

How about a male Carpet? I know that Dooley breeds them on here, and I think their care is similar to a veiled, with regards to humidity, etc. Good luck!

Flapnecks are cool...Might have to do some research on those guys. But i've read from other members that flapnecks should be housed in a "bigger" enclosure than 18x18x36

My girlfriend was thinking about a carpet cham...Not sure on how to raise them so i'll def have to read up on them. I'll also send Dooley a PM if i end up getting one or if i have any questions. Thanks allot!

Carpet chameleons come to mind for sure. Jacksons as well. The care is a little different than a panther, but once you figure it out, it isnt too hard. Humidity isnt usually much of an issue for me, but a few sheets of plastic sheeting (or acrylic if you want it to look nice) can help out with the humidity if you cant get it where you want. I dont think it will be too hard in the bay area though.

there is just no way to go wrong with a beautiful male carpet from Kevin (dooley1) He has been breeding carpets and does a fantastic job. My sister has three of his chams and she is nuts about them. I you will get a healthy chameleon at a good price. Be careful at pet shops most do not sell healthy chams and the pet store you named is known for unhealthy chams.
