Chameleon only eating locusts.

Hi I have a 5 month veiled chameleon called shadow ( he is translucent). And about a week after doing a head shed he stopped eating crickets. Worrying I though he might have an impact ion or uri but I don’t think so as he seems bright healthy and very active. So I decided to try him with locusts as he was only fed crickets and the occasional waxwork before. He will now eat locusts but not crickets however I don’t think just feeding him locusts is and option. This is because my dad is a vet and there was a panther chameleon brought into his veterinary practice that had prolapsed its anus when it switched from just crickets to just locusts. We don’t know what to do as he won’t take crickets. He is also starting to look quite fat. Thanks.
