I just recently got my first chameleon. yay! She is two years old and my friend was giving her up because they couldnt care for her anymore. She wasnt eating or drinking. But then we put her in the shower and that made her really happy and started eating again. Ive had really hard time keeping the humitity of the cage at 90%. So i did purchase the Zoo Med Reptile Fogger Terrarium Humidifier on amazon and it had amazing reviews. My question is if you more experieced chameleon owners would suggested something like this or just stick to my hand misting.

That's great that you were able to rehydrate her and get her eating again. :) The humidity in the cage doesn't have to be 90% at all times.
 
Congratulations! I use the fogger 3-4 times a day. But I also like hand misting Newton. Newton is still young and I like the interaction with him and sometimes I am able to catch him drinking when I open door and hand mist him. I have also put him on his tree in the shower. I'm not sure he was too keen on that.

JGSpecial: Welcome to the wonderful world of chameleons!

First off, it looks like you have two males: a male Jacksons (with the horns) and a male Panther (red with stripes). Panthers and Jacksons come from very different climates and need much different care in terms of temperatures and humidity.

Secondly, chameleons are not "group animals" - they are very territorial and are best kept alone. You will need to separate them immediately. Meaning today. Even if they look like they are getting along, likely your Jacksons is very stressed (because he is the smaller cham). Stress is very hard on a chameleon's health. They may even fight when you are not watching them.

Read through the care sheets in great detail and start posts if you have any questions. It's critical to get them separate enclosures with the proper temperatures and humidity levels.

I know, they are all in separate enclosures. I have a free range that i put them on at different times. They dont mind eachother but i still dont put them together. I just did it real quick to take a shot. Im really careful with my chams. There are 3 there and are all males, veiled, panther, and jackson. Thanks for the input/concern but i do really know how to care for them and wouldnt want to have them hurt eachother.
 
That is good to know but understand when you post a pic like that, without explanation, you are gonna catch some flack!;)

Carol, i think that maybe a tactful question would have sufficed. To say that i can catch flack on the fly like that isnt very becoming of the community. Also, after i nicely responded to him/her the least they could do was apologize for having a distorted opinion of what was presented in the picture. Their interpretation of what they saw immediately (in their eyes) branded me inexperienced and negligent. Imo that wasnt very fair. Instead my response was either ignored or dismissed without admission of guilt for judging me poorly. My chameleons have a great life and i spend a ton of money and do a ton of research to make sure they have a long, healthy quality of life. Its laughable that some people are so temperamental that theyd give someone flack in this manner and that its thought that this behavior should be expected. No offence to you carol, i know you are well liked here.

Camille is a veiled chameleon and doing so much better! i was so upset at first but then she started eating and letting me hold her. Tonight she did hiss at me cause i was trying to reposition her cage (she is a diva) but i turned her lights off and she went straight to sleep. She is resting her head on a branch and is the prettiest neon shade of green. If i knew how to upload pictures i would, I am still new to this site!

I do love hand misting her. I am just concered when im not home and she needs a little mist.

I wouldn't say that forum members here are "temperamental", but that they are as passionate (if not more) about their chams as you are. Once you've been here a while you'll realize we see some pretty awful situations from new members who haven't done a bit of homework or worse, claim they've done a lot of research, and we see the same problems over and over again. Yes, a few of us are quicker to jump into the fray than others, but its coming from eagerness to protect the animals that we love. The last thing any of us want to see is a cham sick or dying when the correct husbandry information is now so easy to get. It is not meant to be mean or personal.

if I may add something there is that not only is the right information out there but many times the owners refuse to take the information and use for whatever excuse they may pull
