Chameleon did not recognize me?

My cham freaked the heck out...lashing lunging and hissing. First time Ive ever heard him hiss! I was wearing a red shirt...do cham's not like the color red? I also had my glasses on and was near a window...maybe he saw his reflection?

My gawd...i was terrified.

i dont know if this helps but through my experiences ive noticed that some reptiles have things that wil set them off a while back i had a green iguana and if anyonw came near him wearing a hat look out cause he was coming at you, it seems that certain things they just plain see as a threat , but thats just a thought though

Anecdotally they really don't seem to like red, to the point that if you add something red to the room they are in (new sofa, picture etc) they may go on hunger strike. Have you worn the shirt around him before?

No I havent! I did get all of my hair cut too...so more of my forehead is exposed..I dunno. Ive noticed though when my mom had a red shirt on...he got a little testy.

I have a male veiled that HATES red!! I have had him over 3 years and you can go into his cage with any color except red. Actually he isn't crazy about orange either but not to the same extent as red.

I don't think it's red for all chameleons. There's been random colors chameleons dislike, one I heard even got mad when their owner drank koolaid near them, regardless of the color. They're weird like that.

Calais HATES red, and Leopold despised it! Any other color is fine.
