Chameleon deworming

Hi! I'm new to the forum and had a few questions on deworming. My 3.5 to 4 month old male veiled chameleon has had some very tiny white larvae in his poop. They are not long like parasitic worms if that helps. Im curious if anyone knows what they are or what my path of action should be. He's still eating and drinking regularly, so besides the little worms in his poop he's quite healthy. Thanks for any advice you can give me!

If it sits and stays moist, fungus gnats will lay eggs in feces, although I think it takes a few days for the eggs to hatch. The larvae are nubby and white.

You might try breaking open a fresh "sample" or keeping it moist in a plastic baggie to see if the eggs are in the feces or come from another source.

Regular fecal checks by a vet are always good practice since parasites can come even with purchased feeders. If you haven't had it checked in awhile, now's a good time.

If I go a day or so without disposing of the poop and it stays moist a bunch of them appear all over it, but if it lands on a leaf and dries up you can't see a sign of them once being there. I'll try to get a fresh sample and keep it moist in a baggie, see if its the gnat or eggs that are already present in the feces. Thank you!
