Chameleon color?

I acquired a new blue bar chameleon who is 1 year old. He came in a glass enclosure and he is always dark blue. Today I moved him into a screened in tank and when I found him he was much much lighter and had rainbow colors. I can't tell if he loves his new tank or is stressed. He was also sleeping directly beside a pink plant and kinda looked like the plant colors. Any ideas or feedback?

Hard to say what his colors mean. All chameleons are a little different in that respect. Rule of thumb though is darker colors usually are a sign of stress. From the picture you posted, his colors don't look stressed. But in my opinion, he doesn't look too healthy. He appears to be dehydrated and thin, possibly malnourished. I would make sure he is getting plenty of water and UVB. I would also make sure he is on a proper supplement regiment. In my experience, usually malnourished chameleons are candidates for MBD. Also, not a good sign if he is sleeping or not alert during the day as he appears to be in the photo. Where did you get him?
