Chameleon bite

My chameleon just bit me. It's not bleeding but the spot looks irritated and it's starting to itch.

Now I'm curious if there's something in their saliva that makes that happen?

Nope. Cham saliva has no known toxins or active irritants. They don't use anything like this to capture or kill prey. There is a chance YOU happen to be sensitive to the saliva. Clean the bite as you would any skin abrasion.

I've heard the bites hurt pretty bad.
Just out of curiosity, what prompted him to bite you?

Just like any other abrasion you are going to have some sensitivity if you haven't washed it out and sterilized it correctly.. and even then you can't get all of the bacteria.

The bite didn't hurt at all. I was just holding her for a couple minutes and she just got more and more pissy and was just snapping continuously. Then I put her back :p.

But my finger is better now.

Wow she sounds friendly lol. Tilly made a small attempt at biting Joe on Sunday. She has never bitten but gets pissy easy.

She gives plenty of warning but I still wouldn't trust her, she's a lot quicker than the human hand!

At least it's better than a boa bite! Talk about stinging then! lol Doesn't hurt so much as it just feels like your hand is covered in tiny paper cuts. And then the next day you have a tiny bruise where each tooth was.

I've been bitten by Cerberus, my panther. He's really pissy as well, and one day he just let me have it.

You're lucky she didn't go in for the kill. They can dosome serious damage if they want!!
