Chameleon and sleep

I was wondering if I wake mine up, or say I'm up late and have a light on a couple hours into the night, after his lights go out. Will he get tired and maybe go to sleep and hour or so early before his lights go out? He doesn't sleep in the middle of the day, just before his lights go out. He is a baby and I'm just trying to grasp if this is normal or not.

Also- do you want the general cage/care list thing, or is this enough?

Thanks!:)

Could you clarify what times lights are going on and off?

Do you mean you wake him up after hes asleep?

They need near total darkness to sleep.

They will often times head to their sleeping area a good hour or so before lights out.

6am-6pm

Well sometimes I'll go in there after 6 and turn on my lamp and so on, or I will just be up, I'll go over and check ok him and I will have woken him up.
Yea it's not total darkness...

My suggestion is to wrap your cage up, just like you would a bird, so that nothing you do during his sleepy time will affect him. Chameleons napping during the day is usually an indication of problems...if they aren't getting enough sleep at night they don't nap during the day, they stress out. Which could, of course, result in napping during the day....

But do you want your chameleon napping during the day because it was so stressed out by the night before? I think the obvious answer is "no".

How long after he has gone to sleep?
I know my veiled is out like a light once the lights go off. As long as I don't go banging his cage around he generally stays asleep even if I go in and flip the light on for a few minutes to water my plants.

Now, whats really bad is to accidentally leave the light on all night! I did that once! Wont make that mistake again. Walked in the next morning, he had his ticked off colors going and did not want me going near him. I felt terrible.
