Hello, I have a male panther chameleon about a year old. I have had him since about a month old. Since I've had him he's been great. Very friendly, no problems with handling, hand feeding nothing. Never even seen him get mad once. Until 2 days ago.
He is usually around me and my girlfriend and occasional visitors and like I said no problems. But my parents came over Saturday and wanted to see him, I let him come on to my hand like normal and once he was out and saw them he puffed up, pushed his neck out and turned bright yellow. I had an angry panther in the past so I knew this meant he was upset so I put him back in his cage and let him be.
I came back an hour or so later to check on him and he was normal green and colorful until I opened his cage then same thing. Puffed up and turned yellow and lunged at me. So again I let him be the rest of the night. Once he was asleep I checked on him and he was sleeping in his normal spot no issues.
The next day he was a little better but very nervous and didn't eat all his crickets and still puffed up a couple times. So I let him be the rest of the day. Today I feed him before work and came home as usual on lunch and he ate all the crickets today but still very nervous and standoffish.
I'm just wondering could something be wrong with him? Or is he just stressed from that and will take time to get back to normal. Like I said he's never done this before around anyone.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
Ps. Nothing in his cage or room has changed or been moved either.
