Cham safe floor padding?

So, apparently my Jackson's, Weirdo, likes to try to climb in places he really shouldn't attempt to reach in his cage and ends up slipping and falling to the bottom. I am planning to get more branches than I already have added soon, but in the meantime is there something I can put on the bottom of the cage so he won't get hurt if he falls? I was thinking as a temporary solution a folded up towel to act as a cushion.

Any other suggestions of something readily available that will not cause any harm to Weirdo>

(And yes, I know this is a dumb post, but I am trying to prevent him from getting hurt because he is stubborn and has earned his name...)

A folded towel would work fine, but it might be time to add some decor to the cage. Chams will often wander like that because they are looking for someplace safe because they don't get that feeling in their cage. So I'd recommend a big bushy plant for his cage, both for making him feel safe, giving him more to explore, and as a bonus to break his fall.

I fully intend to add even more stuff for him to climb on. The hard part is finding stuff locally that I trust to be in his cage. It's a long story, but I want to find a big enough fake plant for him to climb on, but for some reason, that is near impossible to find for a reasonable price locally. The closest I have found it at a craft store that charges a ridiculous amount for almost everything they carry.

I feel like I am always changing and improving his cage and no matter what I add, he always finds a way to attempt a gap he really shouldn't.

Update: I folded up a towel and padded the bottom and will change it out when I get home from work today so it is not constantly wet in the cage. So far I have not heard him fall, but he was getting ready to fall asleep when I got home last night, so he was not climbing around anymore for the night.
