So I took my chameleon to the vet after he was in the care of a family member while I was away for the holidays, and I noticed him open mouth breathing and saw some gross yellow discharge in the back of his throat. So I took him to the vet the next morning and she said he has mouth rot and was glad we caught it early. So the vet gave me injectable antibiotics which I'm supposed to inject once every 72 hrs under his shoulder. Also she gave me this oral cleansing gel which she told me to apply every day bc it's an antiseptic so it should help clear the infection. Anyways I am having trouble opening his mouth as I am only able to pry it open a little bit where I can only see some of his gums and teeth. I applied the gel to the part of the mouth that was visible as Rango was fighting it and I did not want to accidentally hurt him as I was opening his mouth. Anyways whats the best way to open his mouth safely so I can apply the gel. Please wish my Chameleon a healthy and speedy recovery.
