You need to teach your cat to not ever go near your cham & it's cage. I had to teach my cat that the parrot was always off limits whether she's in her cage or walking around. A water bottle on stream setting worked to discourage interest. But also, getting a cat does not guarantee that it will even catch the mice. I had a cat years ago that when it encountered a mouse, he ran away from it!

I have heard a few horror stories about cats eating, etc. chams. There are also stories of how some kitties ignore the chams.
I guess I am very lucky. My kitty loves the chams. Not as in yum-yum love but as in being a cham guardian love.
Kitty Kora hung out with Twister all the time especially after he got sick. She would be right there with him and even when he tried climbing on her and grabbed her nose with his claws, she cried but did nothing to hurt him but raised her paw toward him and didn't even touch him! And, she continued to guard him after that too. And, she seems to be going to be the same with the babies but I haven't had them out alot yet because they are still so small and young. Whenever anyone visiting gets close, she will go over to the cages and growl and hiss and spit if they get too close for her liking, especially the grandkids LOL.
Here is a picture of Kora hanging out with Twister. He had been sitting right above her enjoying the sun until the camera came out and he took off. He hated the camera!

I would like to think that if you have a sturdy cage and don't leave the cham loose unattended with the cat around, you should probably be fine. But remember that they can and will break/rip screen if they want to.
I am lucky in that none of my cats are really interested in my little critters (rats and hamster) in their cages. One of the cats will sit there and watch them sometimes, but gets bored fairly quickly. The same one I've found sitting in front of the cham cage, but I'm pretty sure it's just because of the heat lamp, as my cham barely moves.
