Carotenoids ...conversion in chameleons...

I'm still trying to make sense of this...as to whether chameleons can convert it or not...

In humans..."no vitamin A activity can be derived from lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene"...and..."Dietary lutein and zeaxanthin are selectively taken up into the macula of the eye"...

If this is true in insects then do these nonprovitamin A's count as vitamin A at all when a chameleon eats an insect?
