Can you make it too humid?

Thinking of adding a couple more mistings to Simba's daily schedule.

Hygrometer giving max reading of 47% even with his current misting schedule of:

8am - 10 mins
11am - 5 mins
2pm - 10 mins
5pm - 5 mins

Thinking of adding a misting in between each one of these for 1 or 2 mins. (so 3 extra mistings at 9:30am, 12:30pm and 3:30pm)

Enclosure dries out well before the next misting on the original schedule. But I'm worried that 47% isn't high enough for him. Especially as he still hasn't shed his tail skin yet.

I was just wondering if you think the extra mistings might make it too humid?
Is it just a case of doing it and see what the readings come back as?

He does seem to enjoy the mistings (less black when the mister is on)

Please let me know your opinions :D

Do you only have the one hygrometer? That doesn't seem possible for mistings of that duration. I only mist for 30 seconds or so each time and the levels go through the roof!

It seems to me that you have adequate ventilation and drainage. I don't think extra mistings will do him any harm at all. :) JMO.
How well is your hygrometer working?

Hmmmmm you both have a point.

It's the hygrometer I got with the enclosure, so it might be on its way out.

I'll invest in a new one and see if that makes any difference.

Cheers ;)

Hygrometer ordered. Should be del beginning of next week.

Will see what readings that gives, then decide on additional mistings.

Thanks all ;)

There is a way to test a hygrometer. Think you have to put it in a bag with salt. If you Google it you can find it. I did it a while ago for my humidor.
