A T5HO is 33% more efficient, and double the wattage per foot. So its easily 4x more light/uv vs a T8, and if your t8 doesnt have a reflector(i have never seen a T5HO without one) you can get up to 10x more light vs a T8 with a normal white metal/plastic reflector. Its why no one recommends 12% T5HO's unless you have a meter.

Only if you have a crappy setup. As long as you have plenty of plant cover you are fine. I rotate out my 12% from the beardy cages to the cham cages at about 18-24 months. They are still putting out .7 UVI at that point at 28", not enough for beardies, but chams i dont change till .4

If I was to buy mercury vapor bulbs would I be able to get the ones at a hardware store or are they specially made like the t5 and t8 reptile bulbs this parts confusing me lol
