Well the day started of ok despite the fact that the girlfriend has pneumonia. I just checked on my Chams and found that our Quad Walter has a prolapse.:( i'm not sure if it is a hemipene or his anus. Well i washed it off the best i could and soaked it in sugar water and put some lube on it to keep it from drying out pretty much all i can do till i can get him to the vet in the morning.

I am sorry about your cham. I don't have any experience with males but what you did is what I have read also. Maybe a picture and someone with experience can tell you what it is.

Good luck

Hang in the James, the vet should be able to fix the prolapse and hopefully the g/f gets better soon.

well we took Walter in this morning for emergency surgery. We just got a call back from the vet and it turned out the be his Hemipene which was bleeding and they had to amputate part of it cause it was to dried out even after the constant lubing, hehe. He will spend a few more hours at the vet so he can watch him and make sure he's doin ok. Thank you all for your concern and support. :)

ouch! i would probably freak out if my boys ever prolapsed, so props to you for keeping your cool and doing everything you could with what you had

Though, I'm not new to chameleons, I'm new to this... what (mind my dorkiness) what is a prolapse? :(

a prolapse is when an internal organ, hemipene, intestines, etc.. protrude from the vent.

Wow... thank you for responding... how/why does that happen? I have a male panther and a male veiled.... I will be doing my research on this....

injury, just cuz. constipated and they pushed to hard to try to poo and instead popped soething out.

now sometimes, a male will 'flash you' meaning he will stick out his hemipenes for a second or two, then pull them back in.
this is normal andnothng to worry about .

the problem comes in when they dont/cant pull it back in.
warm sugar water, and ky jelly should be applied, and a vet trip is needed.
