Can I use sticks from outside?

I’m almost done setting up a chameleon cage and I want to add more sticks, can I use sticks from my yard? If so should I wash them off and how? Would it be ok to use sticks with lots of bark, or should I aim for smoother sticks? Worst case I’ll buy artificial ones, but it would be good to know if I can just use the ones in my backyard.

Welcome to the forum!

A chameleon would have trouble hanging onto a branch with no bark...so leave the bark on.
Make sure the branches you use are nontoxic and just wash them off with some hot water....that's all I've ever done.
