Apparently so. Here is a pic and there is a video of a panther swimming in a bathtub on youtube.

This video was taken in Germany. The owner explained that the chameleon actually went to the water himself, and was not forced at any moment. As the possibility of drowning is pretty high for a chameleon (and i heard seeing a chameleon drowning is very disturbing), i strongly suggest not forcing any chameleon into water. However, that video shows that if a chameleon wants to swim, they can!
FYI, posting that photo without credit to the photographer is a violation of copyright and site rules regarding copyright (https://www.chameleonforums.com/copyright-36782/). If you want to post about someone elses photo, post a link to the original source (http://www.de-kvn.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3271), don't reproduce the image. Also, the topic of chameleons swimming has been brought up many times and this particular photo has been discussed a couple as well:

Well very sorry for 2 reasons, posting without credit and has been brought up before!! Wow, never thought about posts being on here before! I know that never happens on here at any time!!!! Credit to whomevers picture this was!! Wow seriously!! Just found the picture on the web, wasnt credited to anybody, just thought it was cool, very snooty people on here from alot of answers I have looked at!! Again my apologies to anybody that has already read a post about swimming chameleons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being snooty has nothing to do with it. Its an interesting series of photos but the photo wasn't yours and it was not your place to reproduce it. Providing a link to the place you found it is all you needed to do. Providing a link doesn't violate copyright law or the rules of this forum but copying the photo and posting it without permission or credit to the owner does. Many of the members of this forum have had their photographs taken by others without their permission or credit being given and few appreciate it.
