California Veterinary Tax

CA wants to legislate a 9% tax on all veterinary services, including meds.
This is really reprehensible at a time when so much is being done to heighten
awareness regarding caring for animals. A veterinarian, whose training and
licensing is as rigorous as that of MDs will now have their care taxed as
though they were dispensing canned goods. And the cost of surgeries,
neutering, etc. is high—an additional 9% will discourage many from giving their pet
care.

This is why you have to loooove CA. When in trouble, tax the hell out of anything the moves. It's a great solution! Yet another industry that will be choked to death in the State because the Politicians can't take care of business.

I just called since I am, sadly, a California citizen. As if this state isn't costing the people enough money, they have to really hit us where it hurts with our pets. Loving the whole I.O.U. on the state income taxes too

The sad part - the truly sad and dispicable part - is that the people who support this stuff (and most of these punitive or no-brianer taxes. Some idiot in NJ tried to get elected by promising to "number every bullet" - hah!) are not being affected. This is a sign of more to come.

We wont' be able to get basking bulbs when incandescents are outlawed.
because stupid people are willing to accept more taxes and rules as long as said rules and taxes don't directly affect them. And lawmakers and politicians are perfectly happy to piss on the people affected, as the majority of their voters will be getting government money from those taxes.

Soon, the people recieving all the taxpayer money will outnumber the people who pay the taxes. And when the consumers of taxpayer money have a majority vote... you will see one of the few very exploitable flaws in a democratic republic - there's no checks, nor any balances for voter IGNORANCE.
