Calcium mixture

Hi all....

My Cham has recently been to the vets as he has been unable to keep food in his stomach for long enough for it to digest. The vet has tube fed him a liquid food which he has been able to digest.

He is currently taking antibiotics which are given to him every other day orally via a small schringe.

His appetite is very low and he is not eating. This means he is lacking calcium intake also other vitamins.

I was thinking of maybe mixing a small amount of calcium powder and vitamin supplement into a bit of water and using the schringe to give it him.

Would his body be able to get the goodness this way? Would it be a problem or bad idea?

I just want the guy to get some goodness in him until he gets his appetite back, particularly calcium.

Thanks

You can buy a liquid calcium sandoz or calcium gluconate at a pharmacy and give him a little bit of that. Its supposed to be more readily absorbed but be careful just to ease a little into his mouth at a time since its syrupy and hard for them to swallow compared to water.
