Cage protection.

Will minwax polyshades work as a waterproofer on a cage. I'm building a wood frame with screen inserts. I know the misting and humidity will affect untreated wood. Can I use this to coat the entire wood section of cage?

Its just my opinion, but thats some nasty VOC 275 compliant paint. Its going to release volatile organic compounds for a good long time. id look around for voc 50 or no voc.
