Cage is ready...Wheres my Cham!?!?

Looks to me like "it" could be 2.5 - 3months old.

I am going to say it , sorry...

looks to me like SHE is really small not he. I am not 100% sure but I am not seeing male at all. (I hope I am wrong)

I would say you got a pretty little girl on your hands.

I would have to agree with Ryan. Im not seeing male but then the angles of the tail base arent the best. Also has the nice sherbertish colors of a very nice female. We could be wrong on this one though.;) IVe been staring at it for a few:rolleyes: If you can get another pic straight side view profile with its tail pointing straight out (but dont force it) we might be able to get a better idea. Some are just hard to tell though.

Dont have to say the name but was the breeder reputable online breeder, pet shop, hobbiest?

I also agree on the cup feeding. Attach it somewhere below where he likes to bask so he is sure to see the feeders.

Edit: sorry just saw its from LLL. They should have a guaruntee on the sex of your animal.

I am pretty upset now, I really had this image in my head of a male, and that it would be larger and all that I had set up would have be just right.

I now may have a female, that is a bit young, and the cage is too large. *Sighs* If she is is a female, then she is. It's kinda like having a child, you really get what you get. LLL doesnt have a option to select male or female, so I called and spoke to the person incharge of animal selection prior to shipping. I told him that I wanted a male and not a female, He said "sure I can take care of that". I now may have a female and shes tiny at that. I will call them and express my concerns. If in fact it is a female, I am not sure how to even return it!?!? I will take some pictures so you guys can get a better look at the bulge in the tail, please keep your fingers crossed its a male.

I hope it is a male, is your yemen a female? I would die for an ambilobe or a nosy B, but 13 years old, no job, no money_no panther cham :) I have been studying up on these guys for so long now i cant even remember, I have so many reptiles and i am really looking for a cham at the next expo, maybe find a cheap one.

Here are a few additional pictures of the tail. I am no expert, but I dont see any bulge either.

I'm thinking he is a she too. Uh oh. Good luck either way.

And goodluck with LLL..

Jason - I ordered a male red bar ambanja from LLLreptile a couple years ago. It turned out to be a male Sambava. All the members let me know right quick that it was a Sambava male. I have to say though - He was a dear sweet boy!

Looks like a girl to me too, and a pretty little one at that. And I too say shame on LLL for selling that tiny. BUT-the benefits to getting a girl are many-they have great little personalities, and they take longer to come into breeding age-so your next one can be a little boy and you will have a pair! :) Next time, buy from a show or a breeder that will make sure you have a boy of the right age.

I put trust in LLL that they would deliver what was expected. They not only sent the wrong sex, but it was underaged aswell. I know it would have been best to physically see the animal being purchased, yet was not an option. I have done a fair amount of business with LLL and was always pleased with thier service and support. I now am on the other end of the spectrum over this deal. I will call them and discuss the options. I don't mind ending up with a pair of ambilobes, yet having to buy a complete second set up would really put a strain on funds. I will follow up on this post and keep you all updated.

Thanks, Jay

I just spoke with Kate at LLL, and she informed me that they will take care of the issue, no questions asked. The sex is not guarenteed, yet they will try thier best to accomodate the buyers request. They said I would need to send it back and they would send out another. She also gave me another option, and that was that they had one that is a bit older and is in fact a male for sure. I guess the little girl will meet the FedEx guy again soon.:(

Nothing against LLL, I just got some equipment from them. But if you are in Corona, you are near enough a lot of awesome breeders. I myself am looking for a new guy as well, and I found that I am having a better experience talking to the breeders and seeing the babies before selecting one. Which I have yet to do.

Why not just drive to LLL, it is not far from you. Maybe an hour away. I go all the time and I live in Diamond bar. You could see what you are getting.

It does look a bit small to me, and I also think it is a female. However, when buying from a wholesale company like LLL, you more or less get what you pay for. Thats not saying she looks unhealthy or anything. Actually, for a baby panther, she looks healthy to me. I buy tons of stuff from LLL and have never had any problems with them, however, when it comes to the chameleons themselves, I prefer to buy from reputable breeders (Thanks again Jim of Chameleon Company!). When Jim sold me my female ambilobe, he assured me that I would be receiving an exceptional specimen "perfect in every way". He was true to his word.:D Buying from a reputable breeder usually means you are really "getting what you pay for" rather then what someone wants you to believe you are paying for. Honestly, with the prices of panthers these days, buying from a reputable breeder seems just as cheep as buying wholesale! There are some really good deals out there, and I think overall, its totally worth paying the extra few dollars for that essential peace of mind you will get from an experienced breeder. Once again, I think your little panther looks healthy.

Well after a while of thinking it over and talking with Kate at LLL about this matter I have decided to keep her. I spent the day observing her and feeding her out of my hand, and I fell in love. I cant let her go back. Like I said shes now like a child to me and Im just happy "shes" healthy. ;) On another note Kate was able to compinsate me for the mix up which made the deal even sweeter. On yet another note I will get my male as promised and he will be here tomorrow.....along with another full blown cage set-up....and all the goodies....:p I could not help myself. Busy week for me as I just added 2 new little ones to the collection.:) Yes I am a CHAM-O-HOLIC, and no I will not go to meetings!:D

Look at that little face....could you send her back?:p
