Cage Hygiene VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION

Does anyone know if using unscented puppy pads at the bottom of chameleon cages would be a problem. I am not asking if they would get their tongues stuck i'm talking chemically that i why i said unscented. The stuff that is in the pads to absorb water and what not and whatever else is in it ? Would this affect them in any way.??????????

Are you hand misting? I ask because before I got the AquaZamp mister I hand misted. I used paper towels and they worked great, easy and clean. Plus, I think them holding some water was good for the humidity. I don't have an opinion on the puppy pads but I personally wouldn't do it. That stuff could be harmful (could be)

rite "could be " as in both me and you have no idea and they don't make it easy to figure out with the definitions of whats inside them. Yes i use viva brand paper towels and i hand mist and i have misting systems along with other repti rains on baby cages i am cleaning 20 chameleon cages so paper towels get pricey especially this brand but its the only grocery store brand that works best aside from auto zones blue shop towels. The pads i can buy in major bulk for allot less and they would last longer than paper towels also most of the pads match cage dimensions im hoping there is some wild ass hippie supply shop that may have organic one or something of that nature.

I wouldnt do it...... I would stick to normal paper towels..... Hope this helps !

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use something like shop towels or cheap bath towels cut down to size, that can be washed? Might have to do more laundry, but if you had two or three towels per cage, you could do a couple changes before you had to wash them? Just a thought. Anyway, if the chams aren't going down to the puppy pad, I wouldn't think they would be dangerous. People use them for whelping puppies on. That is a messy thing and the pads work pretty good. I can't really tell you 100% just that they are safe for newborn puppies.

All pads not created equally.

While it is true that some puppy pads are treated with chemicals to both keep down odor and be attractive to dogs to potty on not all contain chemicals.

You can get pads that are free of chemicals.

You can also get pads designed for hospital beds.

I use the latter in my Emerald boa enclosure as the pads help keep humidity up and also are very easy to change.

Either would be a great option for cage bottom lining as long as there are no chemical additives.
