Bump on side

I noticed this bump on Spaghettis side this morning as I was feeding him. He has no symptoms and it does not seem to be bothering him. Any idea what it could be? My worry is that I’m going to be out of town for a few days.

Could be an abscess. Could be something more as well. This would mean a vet visit. I would set up an appointment for as soon as you get back as long as his daily behavior is normal. If it is not such as sleeping during the day, stopped eating, not moving around as normal then I would get to vet prior if possible.

I’m headed back home tomorrow late morning. I have scheduled a vet appointment for Wednesday at 4:30. My husband is home with him now and says he is still acting normal. I’ll keep everyone updated.

Still acting like his grumpy self. So that’s a good sign. I’m about to get him in his travel box and head to the vet-it’s a couple hours away.

153 grams. Vet took a sample from the lump and tested it. It is an abscess. He is going in Friday morning to get it removed

Just got a call from the vet. Apparently Spaghettis vet broke his hip so they have rescheduled him for Monday. He’s still acting fine and showing no symptoms and eating and acting normally

Let me clarify- the vets hip is broken. Spaghetti is fine I sent a message to a friend of mine and it got misinterpreted as spaghettis hip was broken by the vet. I was so confused when he called me angry complaining about the vet

Dropped him off this morning early. Vet just called with an update. He was able to remove the abscess. He said it was really attached deep to the muscle and skin and there was unfortunately there was not enough skin left to cover the wound so it is open. But he said he should heal fine and everything looks good. I’ll pick him up at 4:30.

Spaghetti is back home. He has a pretty good wound. I got an okish photo. I didn’t wanna bug him too much. Oral antibiotics and topical as well. Checkup scheduled for Saturday to make sure he’s healing alright.

Be careful about letting insects free in the cage. You don’t want them contaminating the open wound or chewing on it.

Did the vet do a culture and sensitivity test on the abscess content?

I don’t let insects free roam so we should be all good there. I’ll check the names of the medications in the morning. I am not sure about the culture and sensitivity test. I know he took a sample using a needle when we first went last week and he did some sort of test to confirm that it was an abscess.

Enrofloxacin is the oral and the topical is animax ointment.

Going in for his check up this morning! Been acting fine so far

The vet cleaned it really good and put some silvadene cream on it. And sent us home with some mixed with a granulating agent to put on it. He said it is looking good, the tissue looks to be healing well and is healthy. He said he does not need to see him back unless he starts acting off or his wound isn’t healing.
