Bulge on stomach

my veiled is about 1 year old now and I notice a decent size bulge when he flattens out it in some positions while he basks, it goes away when he moves about in his cage, just wondering if it's his gut or should I be worried

If I remember right, they have a fat pad in their abdomen in front of their back legs, so could just be that he's got a large fat store that's now starting to show when he flattens out.

Sorry your chams not doing well, it looks like an absess or a hernia possibly ? Jann had a Veild with a similar looking issue. It required surgery, you need to see a vet soon. Hopefully it's nothing. Keep us posted
Good luck Dave

Yeah I hope it's nothing, he doesn't seem to have any change in any behavior or eating, but I will be seeing a vet now that these issues have been brought up. I hope it's nothing.

It could be a hernia. I would definitely get a qualified chameleon vet to check it out. My female Lottie has a hernia caused by two surgeries. She acts completely normal and my vet has me keeping a close eye on it but hopes not to have to do a third surgery. He did say he could repair it with a small piece of mesh if it becomes necessary. You can read about my Lottie girl here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/im-very-worried-about-lottie-again.141348/#post-1205472

I'm at the vet he examined him, felt the bulge and told me that he did not feel anything hard or abnormal at this time, he's weighing him in the back....

I'm leaning toward a pretty large fat deposit here. I would think a hernia would be causing him pain and he'd probably show signs of that by not moving around as much or loss of appetite. Maybe an xray could detect anything abnormal.

U just read my mind like a crystal ball, thats why I ask what type of the feeder the poster been feeding him,he looks good in the pic ,only chubby on the stomach parts, eyes are brightly alert, could be just over eating a bit,Xray will let us know more about why n whats in there.I really hope he is nice n healthy with over eating instead of something else.

The vet seemed to agree almost exactly with @Carlton, as he was examining his bulge he told me he did not feel anything hard or abnormal and that the Alfred didn't seem to have any tender or painful spots. I was just told to keep an eye on it and Alfred's behavior
