Bug Burger not solidifying

Hi All, I've just started to give Bug Burger a try to mix things up a little from the cricket crack I normally use. I'm having trouble getting it to solidify. The first time I made it (stovetop) I didn't do it quite right but the second time I followed the directions exactly. Both times it has not set up. I just remains a thick mush. I got the impression this would turn into a more solid product that could be cut into cubes and such. Anyone ever have batches that don't set up?

I use Bug Burger and really like it. I only ever had one batch that was too watery because I didn't add enough powder to the mix. I would assume this is the same problem you are having.

I just eye ball it now but I try to do 1/2 cup bug burger and 1 1/2 cup water (2x the standard batch size). I mix it all up and place it in the microwave for 3-4 minutes. Pull it out, give it another good mix and pour it into my container. It should be thick but still a liquid at this point until it cools down. I let it cool off for 30 minutes and then place it in the fridge with a lid on the container to keep in moisture.

I cut mine into pizza slices as I use a round container but it will its shape after it cools off.

I microwave it for 2 min, and pour it into ice cube trays. When it solidifies I put them into baggie s for storage. U may be using too much water, maybe try the microwave method.

I too use the microwave 3-4 minutes and pour into a mini ice cube tray. It gets REALLY hot and my problem is pouring fast enough! Since you followed the directions I don't know why it won't set up for you. I would try either less water or more powder. It could be there was not enough heat using the stove top. I also use a ceramic dish. If you try the microwave just be really really careful because the dish gets hot too.

I use the wives glass quart measurer, nd 2min in my mic is just bout perfect, it gives me enough time to pour it in the tray and even it out.

I love the idea of the mini-ice cube trays! I do mine in the microwave, don't love the smell but the feeders do love it. I measure all ingredients accurately and have never had a problem with it setting up.

Bug burger smells amazing when compared to silkworm chow.
